Faces of Hilliard
2d · Meet Jennifer Schmeisser, whose passion is her side business, KINDNESS MATTERS, LLC. She is a Certified Personal Life Coach (CoachJennifer4u.net) who partners with clients in “thought provoking, creative discussions to help them achieve goals, dream big in small manageable – achievable steps offering strategy and accountability. Jennifer says, “It is such a bucket filler to be part of their journey especially during Covid many of us, self-included have gotten off track and with a little nudge of coaching we get our routines back.” She also works full-time at OSU Corporate, as a Financial Analyst for 16 years.
Her son, Ryan is 28 and has Autism. “He’s my partner in crime, essentially my 6-foot preschooler and keeps me busy and young at hear swimming, playing Lite Brite, Candyland, reading books like Curious George & If You Give a Mouse a Cookie – followed by baking cookies.” Her daughter, Megan, is in North Carolina. “She is the program Manager and wearing multiple Managerial Hats for Easter Seals, Clinical Services. She is married to the Love of her life, Glen, and they have a fur baby Kali, their sweet rescue dog extraordinaire.”
After her divorce, Jennifer and her son went “community shopping” and stared with checking out the local summer pools. “Hilliard was IT. So diverse, kind and accepting of my son’s ‘different abilities.’ We can be large and in charge and still welcomed whole-heartedly with open arms in this very kind, generous community.” Jennifer says she enjoys all of Hilliard, and you can see her many places around town. The trails for walking/biking, Aqua Adventures, volunteering, the many activities on and around Center Street, and she is a member of the Hilliard Chamber of Commerce. “Perhaps you have seen me at the Prom (a few times now) at Rock City with my adult son with Autism. She was also on Aaron Conrad’s podcast, MyUnscripted, talking about her coaching business.
Jennifer loves volunteering and tried to do so in a variety of ways. She also has a sense of adventure and enjoys trying new things. “I took a Salsa dance class this month, a walking Architecture tour of OSU and I will try my skills at a glass blowing class.” Jennifer is very passionate about living a healthy lifestyle, exercise, enjoying anything CAPA related, everything outdoors, and helping others. As for hobbies, she enjoys the performing arts of all kinds and philanthropy. “I am an avid exerciser at the gym and The Great Outdoors SUP, kayak, hiking. I am very excited to resume my love of travel and have a couple trips planned. Once in a while you can spot me fly fishing.”
Her words to live by are KINDNESS MATTERS, and her role model and inspiration is Mother Teresa. “If you can’t feed 100 people, then feed just one. This also applies to just one random act of Kindness makes ripples to pass on and share with others on your journey whatever is may be should be one of community and connection. We are all in this life together, it’s important to give back, care for others and bring them along in your success as well.”
A fun fact about Jennifer is that she was a marathon coach for many years until “my ‘knees retired me’.” She says that “Although I am a raging ball of energy I do meditated, read a bit of scripture and journal daily.” She finds moments in the winter to read and crochet, and in the summers she is outside “finding shenanigans and adventures exploring Columbus at large
